Hello

Gianna's work is rooted in the belief that children flourish in environments where they feel seen, safe, and free to explore. She is passionate about early learning spaces that honor children as capable, curious, and full of ideas — places where relationships come first and where social-emotional growth is woven into the fabric of daily life. Gianna is especially interested in the nervous systems in the room — both the children's and the educators' who care for them. She believes that when educators are supported and regulated, children and their families can truly thrive. At Sequential Development Consulting, Gianna brings a school counselor's lens to preschool settings, partnering with teachers, parents, and specialists to support SEL curriculum, responsive practices around challenging behaviors, and the relational foundations that allow whole-school communities to grow together.

My Story

Gianna Drocco is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and credentialed Pupil Personnel Services School Counselor with a Master's in Counseling from St. Mary's College of California. Her career has spanned high school, middle school, and elementary counseling, as well as private practice with children and adolescents, and program leadership in early childhood education settings across the Bay Area. Through this work, Gianna has developed deep expertise in social-emotional learning, curriculum design, and the co-regulation that lives between adults and children — guiding educators and families with empathy, reflection, and a steady commitment to best practices.

Gianna's understanding of this work deepened in a way she didn't expect when she became a parent herself. She thought she'd be especially prepared for it — she was a therapist, after all — but her two daughters, Imogen (5) and Rooney (3), have turned out to be her greatest teachers. Parenthood has shown her, in real time, what it means to regulate alongside a small person, to repair after hard moments, and to recognize how much of a child's experience is shaped by the nervous systems of the adults around them. That lens now lives at the center of her work with educators and families.

Gianna's path into early childhood education began with a love of how children come to understand their world. After years of clinical work in school settings, she was drawn to the Reggio Emilia approach for its reverence of the child and its trust in play, relationships, and environment as central to learning. She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education at Boulder Journey School in Denver, where she continues to deepen her understanding of Reggio-inspired practice. Gianna holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the University of California, Santa Barbara, a foundation that continues to shape her appreciation for beauty, observation, and the power of environments to inspire wonder.
